Estrella Negra — Mexican Restaurant in Logan Square, Chicago

This has been one of my favorite places to eat in Chicago since it opened. The food and artwork never disappoint and I love the variety of vegetarian and vegan options that are available too.

The veggie options at this place are on point! The empanadas and taquitos are my favorite. The margaritas are great too. I loved the hibiscus flavor!

This place is a gem. It’s small but comfortable. The food is wonderful. My favorites are the shrimp tacos and the vegan soup. It’s got the perfect amount of spice. As I’m writing this, I’m thinking maybe I should go tomorrow. Reasonably priced and always delicious.

Been dining here 10+ years. The vegan pozole is one of the best vegan soups I’ve had anywhere. Ceviche tostadas, tacos, empanadas — all so good. And the mix used to make the bloody marias and micheladas couldn’t be better! Love this place!

This is forsure my new favorite Latin restaurant. The atmosphere is great, feels very authentic, and the service is top notch. The waiter was so perfectly attentive. The food was 10/10. I think my only complaint would be the guac could use a lil more salt but that’s not a real complaint lol. Empanadas amazing. Torta, delicious and perfect size. The drinks!!! Man I can’t say enough about how good they were. The capriana was my fave and prob my new fave drink in Chicago. I absolutely love love love this place and will become a regular. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Estrella Negra is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Otoniel is very nice. Amazing mango and shrimp enchiladas and pomegranate guac and chocolate chip tamales. Must come back! 10/10.

i am furious that i’ve lived in the area for almost a year and i just now wandered into this fantastic restaurant.
highly recommend. homemade chips, phenomenal homemade salsas, margaritas with freshly squeezed juice, very friendly service. the bean dip is also very good. food is very high quality. we enjoyed our weeknight evening, and i am surprised it wasn’t more busy! maybe we were just lucky with a lull. absolutely will be back soon.

I eat burritos out a lot just to get food in me, and I think most do the job. Estrella Negra's burrito with corn and pablanos went above and beyond. I also love their coffee, their mango salsa, and their vegan pozole. Each one was delicious, new, and filling. I kept telling my family how much I was enjoying it.

The family had a steak burrito, steak tacos, and goat cheese quesadillas, and they all love their food too!

Our server was nice and did a great job despite seemingly running the whole front of the house by himself!

We love Estrella Negra! Oto, the owner and chef, treats us like family. The spinach artichoke empanadas are fantastic. The wings are award-winning. I'm obsessed with the vegetarian pozole, and my friends are in love with the red omnivorous pozole. We like coming for dinner and brunch.

We usually have family birthday celebrations at Estrella Negra. The warm atmosphere, friendy staff, and affordable prices make it the perfect spot.

The service is consistently outstanding, and the food is authentic, delicious, and made with incredibly fresh ingredients. The meat quality is truly top-notch, and the portions are perfect. The drinks are the cherry on top. Our family of four loves dining here, and it’s also become a favorite spot for spontaneous date nights for my husband and me. Highly recommend!

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would! Everything here is a hit. The guacamole is incredibly fresh, the margaritas are spot on, and honestly the entire menu delivers. We tried the Poblano Surf N Turf burger and the goat cheese quesadilla too both were delicious, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
And whatever you do, don’t skip dessert. Every single one we ordered was amazing, so just do yourself a favor and get them all. This is officially one of my favorite spots. Highly recommend! ????????????????

My experience here was great! The staff was very welcoming and accommodating for my birthday dinner. They placed a candle in the concha ice cream sandwich for me to celebrate, which was appreciated. I recommend the chicken flautas, loaded steak fries, and ginger tea. Everything we ordered was very yummy. I will say for a large party, the seating at the high tops is not the most comfortable, so I recommend groups of 2-6 here. Otherwise this is a lovely spot for dinner or drinks. Also note that the portions are not huge, you’ll definitely be full from an entree but don’t expect leftovers. the prices are a bit high for the portion size, but the quality of the food is great.

Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday and we made a reservation to dine in. Finally we can dine in again as the pandemic restrictions loosen. Yaaay for us! We were so happy to go out and celebrate birthday elsewhere than home. Jim picked Estrella Negra- we’ve been here few times before. The food was super delicious. The Goat Cheese Quesadilla with Chorizo was my favorite- salad was super fresh & tasty, and drinks very refreshing. Overall atmosphere was great. I loved being out. Thank you for serving us!!! ???????????? We will definitely be back!

Creative twist on Mexican food. Everything I’ve tried is yummy, including their drinks but... their pozole!!! I CRAVE their pozole!! Since I’m not conveniently nearby anymore I make the trip! Well worth it. ????

We went here for the first time last night for my husband\'s birthday. Everything was amazing! Loved the decor and the great service. Highly recommend the freshly made guacamole. I had incredible spinach and artichoke empanadas and chocolate chip tamale for dessert - so good! The rest of our group had tamales, enchiladas, and tacos - all excellent. Everyone raved about the pozole. The pomegranate Paloma was delicious! Can\'t wait to go back 🙂

soooo good....really, really good vegetarian and vegan options. The veg posole is so warm and lovely....it makes me happy. the tamales, I love the corn, my husband loves the spinach....both are beautiful and tasty....the art is really good, the drinks are good...it is consistently excellent! did I mention the posole that feels like your grandmother\'s hug....

Mexican food with a modern twist but oh so delicious

One of the most flavorful pozoles that I’ve had in a while. I had te fried avocado as well. The Green tea Horchata was definitely unique. I want to try more things from the menu. I will definitely be back!

10/10! Estrella Negra is the best go-to spot! Love going for everyday bites but also enjoy special occasions there. Great space, great food and great people! Awesome catering options as well for those special events.
